Part of the Emergence series, Through the Veil explores the idea that we are more than the identities we present to the world. Layers of colour, texture and expressive mark-making partially conceal and reveal the figure, creating a sense of mystery and transformation.

Bold passages of crimson, gold and deep shadow contrast with moments of delicate detail, inviting the viewer to look beyond first impressions. The painting reflects my fascination with identity, resilience and the hidden aspects of human experience that lie beneath the surface.

Rather than portraying a specific individual, Through the Veil offers a space for personal interpretation, encouraging viewers to reflect on the many layers that shape who we are.
