Original artwork description
The Final Hurdle is an original oil painting on canvas, 46 x 61 cm (18 x 24 inches), by London artist Ryan Louder.
A young boy in a vibrant red top leans with bare feet in an open green field, hands resting along the top bar of a white hurdle. His face looks directly forward with a quiet, vacant gaze — caught in that stillness where consciousness slips away from the physical room. Around him across the grass stand scattered white stakes, some upright and others knocked flat, hinting at an obstacle course abandoned mid-race. The sharp contrast between the bright red shirt and the muted sage greens and grey-blue sky gives the composition an arresting psychological tension.
This captures the dissociative pause where time freezes during REM intrusion, not metaphor. I have painted over 2,000 works, with over 1,000 originals sold.
Painted in oil on canvas in my London studio. Carefully packaged and dispatched with a tracked courier. Any questions, just ask.
