Storm on Dartmoor (2017) Original Oil Painting by Josh Bygrave

66 x 46 x 5cm (framed)

£200

Original oil painting on canvas framed in a white wooden box frame.

Inspired by the works of J.M.W Turner this oil painting on canvas captures storm clouds over the tors on Dartmoor, Devon. Responding to the weather, I have attempted to give an impression and feeling of the landscape.

The storm clouds were painted in a series of layers using expressive brush strokes and the horizon is kept low to give a sense of the vast atmosphere that is experienced when visiting Dartmoor. A palette knife was used to finish the painting, building up texture in the foreground and rocks to give a sense of depth.
