About Josh Bygrave

  • Biography

Landscape and seascape artist based in Plymouth, Devon. I am 28 years old and have been creating paintings from a very young age where I initially started painting wildlife. From studying Fine Art at GCSE and A Level I became interested in landscape and seascape painting and I was introduced to the work of JMW Turner who continues to inspire my work.

I take great interest in painting the South Devon coastline and the surrounding Devon landscape, in particular Dartmoor. Working exclusively in oils my paintings seek to capture atmosphere through my expressive and impressionistic style. My work is open and uncluttered, utilising the simplicity of composition and often conveying my own emotional response to nature through dramatic and expressive skies.

Represented by The Kaya Gallery. A further selection of my landscape and seascape paintings are available at this gallery located on the Barbican in Plymouth, Devon.
