Side by Side is a calming abstract seascape diptych created on a tiny beach on the far side of the Isle of Lewis, where the vast North Atlantic stretches beyond the horizon towards Iceland, Greenland, and endless northern seas. Made on a day when the sky was heavy with rain and the waves rolled softly ashore, the image was created using long-exposure photography and intentional movement, reducing sea, sky, and shoreline to flowing layers of deep navy, sea-glass blue, and soft ivory.

The beach lies north of Uig near the small settlement of Valtos (Bhaltos in Gaelic), a remote corner of the Outer Hebrides surrounded by rocky cliffs, silver sands, and deep blue water. There is a profound sense of solitude here, a place where weather, ocean, and landscape combine to create an atmosphere of stillness and reflection.

The paired panels work together in quiet harmony, bringing a sense of balance, openness, and emotional calm. Inspired by the healing qualities of the sea and the romance of Scotland's remote coastlines, Side by Side invites the eye to wander and the mind to slow.

Designed for luxury interiors, wellness spaces, boutique hotels, and contemporary homes, this oversized coastal artwork creates a peaceful sanctuary within a room, capturing the spellbinding beauty of one of the most remote shores in the British Isles.

The name Side by Side was inspired by the Hebridean songs of Celtic poet Kenneth Macleod (1871 - 1955).

On ridge of ocean,
Shelf of shore,
What place so e'er the tide has left thee!
Ho ro ho, hook-o

Side by side
My love and I:
To sleep a-falling:
Croon of waves
