This artwork features the Painted Stork (Mycteria leucocephala) — a tropical bird often found near lakes and rivers in India and Southeast Asia. I was drawn to its elegant profile and warm, earthy palette: soft white feathers, a long yellow beak, and a quiet, thoughtful look.
There’s something very meditative about painted storks. They spend hours wading through shallow water, rhythmically moving their half-open beaks to sense small fish. Watching them feels like watching stillness itself. I wanted to capture that moment of calm — when the bird stands perfectly still, surrounded only by air and light.
