This is the third in a series based on the theme 'Nocturne.'
In this painting my aim was to create mood and drama through the atmospheric use of light and dark.
Inspired by the Caravaggio and Edward Hopper, the use of intense contrast and a single light source in a quiet and night-time setting creates a composition that holds still a moment in time inviting the viewer to reflect and ponder the scene.
The safety of the light comforts the viewer. Its unwavering presence illuminates and reassures.
