MY INSPIRATIONS ...
love, landscape, literature

MY FAVOURITE MEDIUMS ...
acrylics, chalk pastels, watercolours and local Lincolnshire limestone. I occasionally like to draw and paint digitally and these creations I can offer as prints.

THE EARLY YEARS
I was born in rural Northern Ireland and began exhibiting my artworks in 1976 after graduating from Belfast College of Art, where I had studied Painting and a postgraduate year in Printmaking. The following sixteen years were spent in London's East End at a time when there was a lot of affordable studio space for the many artists working there.

CHANGE OF SCENERY
In 1993, I relocated to the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds - its huge open skies and undulating landscape was so different to my previous inner city life! Huge beech trees surrounded my home and seeing the moon and stars captured in their branches was inspirational. Up until then, my earlier works had been almost totally figure-based, but in time my figures became smaller and set in a landscape - in time, creating images of the landscape itself became important to me too.

EXHIBITIONS and AWARDS
I've always exhibited regularly and in 1987 was proud to be one of seven artists representing Northern Ireland at Fung Ping Shan Museum in Hong Kong. In 1998 Mount Berry College, U.S.A. hosted my solo exhibition. In my career I’ve been a proud recipient of two Arts Council Awards - in 1977 from Arts Council Northern Ireland, and from Arts Council England in 2003 to learn stone-carving - a wonderful boost to my career, just in time for my 50th birthday!

SELLING ONLINE
Artfinder is my only online outlet.

I like to update my shop gallery as often as possible - to date - May 17th 2026, I’ve shown my (sold) stonecarving on my first page because I’ve just listed the little one I made most recently. Some of my other SOLD artworks are listed on the last pages of this shop. I need to add to these! I do have quite a few more paintings to upload. So do check in from time to time for updates!

ON MY WEBSITE ...

In my early career I occasionally illustrated editorial, including the Horoscope page for UK Cosmopolitan Magazine throughout 1990, then reproduced in the Australian and Spanish editions in 1991. My career has seen me self employed as artist and illustrator except from 1996 - 2000 when I worked as company artist for AuraSoma. From the huge output of illustration for their books and products, 2 projects are now collector items - the 'AuraSoma New Aeon Tarot' and the 'Goddesses Book and Calendar' - a personal project on Astrology and Colour that I wrote and illustrated to celebrate the Millennium.
In 2000 nine 9 watercolours were created for a Danish author. Examples of my Astrology and Tarot imagery have been included in the both books of TASCHEN Library of Esoterica 2020 - see the "ME AT WORK" tab above to view.
