Violin lesson at midnight (2016) Original Oil Painting by KAZUHIKO
24.2 x 33.3 x 2cm (unframed)
£1,111.98
Original artwork description
"Midnight Lesson" is a figurative oil painting that captures a young girl absorbed in practicing the violin, alone in a serene and tranquil setting.
The artwork is a medium-sized piece measuring 24.2 × 33.3 cm. Set against a warm, rich palette of browns and oranges, in which the girl and her violin glisten as they catch the light, *Midnight Lesson* is perfectly suited to private spaces such as the walls of a living room, bedroom or study—places of relaxation.
Whether viewed in daylight or under the warm glow of indoor lighting after dusk, the artwork will reveal different nuances and profound expressions depending on the time of day.
I painted this piece to commemorate the days I spent in the UK during my teenage years. I believe this is why the work has a somewhat nostalgic feel to it.
As it holds personal significance for me, I have kept it for a long time, but I have decided to list it to mark my first participation on Artfinder.
Techniques and Materials:
I avoid using modern pigments derived from synthetic resins or petroleum as much as possible; the paints and varnishes I use are natural as far as possible (though, unfortunately, they cannot be 100% natural).
This is because their rich texture and the subtle nuances they display when caught in the light simply cannot be replicated by artificial substitutes.
Although these materials are becoming increasingly scarce, I use them generously, believing there is no other way to achieve the unique colours and textures inherent to traditional oil painting.
You are welcome to ask any other questions you may have; please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Framing:
The artwork is not framed. There is a hanging cord attached to the back of the artwork, so you can hang it on the wall as soon as it arrives. However, to ensure the artwork remains in good condition for as long as possible, I recommend having it framed by a local framer once you have received it.
Packaging:
To ensure the artwork arrives in perfect condition, I take the utmost care when packaging it. I wrap it in protective layers and pack it flat inside a sturdy, thick-walled cardboard box before dispatch.
