She emerged from Chaos, so she was one of the oldest deities (Protogenoi), epitomizing fertility and motherhood. She created the Mountains herself (Ourosi), her love and Aether give birth to the Sea (Pontos). In every period of mythology, it is present in various forms, especially in prehistory, when at the side of her son, and at the same time her husband, Uranus, she rules over the world and gives birth to more gods.
