The blues is a musical form originated by African Americans in the Deep South of the United States around the end of the 19th century. Since then, it has spread across most of the world and inspired many other musical genres, including jazz and rock and roll.
There is something universally unique about blues musicians. There is no pretense…..what you see is what you get. DELTA BLUES is one of a series that I am working on depicting blues musicians in various poses and showing a variety of expressions while they create their music. DELTA BLUES is a one-of-a-kind, original work of art and no authorized copies will ever be made. The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
I work exclusively with India ink and acrylic paint on 4 mil archival grade mylar. the acrylic for the background work and the India ink for details. The store front in DELTA BLUES is a collage that is laminated to the surface of the painting. The musician is painted with acrylic paint and india ink.
All of my artwork has a clear protective coating applied so that it is not necessary nor desirable to put it behind glass. This is an image that I originally created using some of the graphics software that I used in my architectural practice. I do this with all of my paintings…. work out all the figures, colors and details before I start work with actual paint.
This painting will be shipped in a tube. The painting is easy to mount on any type of hardboard. I include simple mounting instructions with each piece that I sell. If you prefer, I will mount the artwork on tempered masonite board with a two or three inch border. It will be “ready to hang”, with a hanging strip attached to the back and a wall hanging device that is very simple to use. It will be shipped in a cardboard box. You may take it out of the box and have it hanging on your wall within five minutes. The extra charge is $50.00 for mounting plus the additional shipping costs.
