Le Chevalier d'Éon was known for his courage, intelligence and the mastery of the fine art of fencing.
What I wanted to represent above all is the androgynous side which made his reputation throughout his adventurous life, and which has remained through centuries.
For this theme I wanted to continue the poses of elegant portraits of men with gloves of Van Dyck or Titian.
