Birdman is something of a local celebrity. He loves music and frequents Plymouth bars to have a dance. He has developed his own style of dance...as he explained to me " I go to bars because I like the music. I was watching some women dance and I said That's not dancing, this is dancing", then realised he had to think of something to do with his arms, so flapped them like wings...and people started chanting Birdman, Birdman.
Now, as soon as he enters a pub or club, the dance floor clears for him. There exists a Birdman Appreciation Society and he is constantly stopped by the public for selfies.
Although he came to my home for his sitting, I have placed him on Plymouth Hoe seafront, where he can be found most days. He holds a little sparkly bird decoration that I gave to him.
Deep edge canvas, edges painted grey. Signed front and reverse.
