Peat, sand and marshy,

Words and experience of Britain’s largest lowland nature reserve in Dorset.
Original expressive watercolour on cold pressed watercolour paper Fabriano 300gsm 140lb.
Signed on the front and back of painting.
Certificate of authenticity.
A wet on wet technique was used for the background washes. Three colours were used to create the tonal balance of the watercolour.
To create the effect of the woodland backdrop I placed a baseline of earthy shades and muted greens and tipped the paper while it’s wet to release the pigments from the horizontal line. This natural evolving technique is wonderful for the trees.
Similar colours for the marshy foreground and etched the paint out with my nail for the grasses.
