I started taking formal art lessons at the age of 14, at the North Truro School of Art in North Truro, MA. I later went on to graduate as an art major with a BA in art from Simmons University, and with a BFA in painting from Rhode Island School of Design. I earned a post graduate teaching certificate from Central CT State U. I taught elementary and secondary art for about ten years. I am driven to capture the effects of light on objects and in spaces, but it is more than capturing what I see, as I use flat planes of color to create an interesting geometric composition. I have been influenced by artists Edward Hopper, Hans Hoffman, Richard Diebenkorn, Giorgio Di Chirico, and Matisse. I have been painting as a professional for about 45 years. I have been in many juried competitions, gallery shows, street art fairs, and in recent years, selling online. I have a room full of paintings in storage waiting for a good home and I work on painting almost every day.
