One of the ways I can describe my paintings is dream landscapes: I paint intuitively, without preliminary sketches, exploring the painting directly on canvas. In my work I am primarily driven by landscape, nature, inner symbolism and color, with these elements intertwining and influencing each other. I also deeply care about the color's physical density and character: I dedicate a lot of effort to finding the pigment that feels right, and my intention is to make the painted surface feel almost as a physical presence in a room, like a living being rather than a flat image. Over the past two years I've deliberately moved toward large scale in my art, with larger canvases allowing me to create color spaces, and I continue to explore the natural and symbolic directions in my work.
