Biography
For many years, I worked in three dimensions, including large installations made with a variety of materials. One of my favorite materials was for a certain time stone. Later, I started with painting, printmaking, and photography. I have taught all these subjects in Rome at two different American universities. So my art has changed over the years, but the red thread that runs through all my work is a certain lightness, sometimes a sense of humor, and a certain openness, so that the viewer of my art doesn’t get a single answer.
I am looking for a connection between different realities. Therefore, lines in the two-dimensional work and threads in the three-dimensional play a great role. I am inspired by nature. Nature is wild, changing, and it does not seek to please. It can be dangerous, but it can also be giving and taking. We, humans, are part of nature, but we have forgotten this and have always tried to conquer it, making it our servant. But I see myself as part of nature, observe it with wonder and curiosity, and want to express its diversity, beauty, and mystery in my work. I must say it is difficult to explain why I create what I do.
