About Linda Coppens

Biography

I am a Belgian abstract artist based in Spain.

Painting, for me, is a process of discovery. I never begin with a finished image in mind. Instead, I start with a surface that offers possibilities, allowing each painting to develop through a series of decisions, revisions and responses to what has already happened on the canvas.

The moment I enjoy most is when the painting begins to surprise me. Every new mark changes the possibilities for the next one, and gradually an underlying structure begins to emerge. Rather than forcing the work towards a fixed outcome, I follow the process until the painting reaches its own sense of balance.

My background in psychology has shaped the way I think about perception and memory. We experience the world through fragments and impressions rather than complete certainty, and I try to create paintings that reward slow looking and allow viewers to discover their own connections over time.

My work is held in private collections in Europe, Asia and the United States and has been exhibited internationally.
