Biography
Jonathan Pradillon is a French contemporary artist whose practice revolves around painting and sculpture. From an early age, he developed a strong interest in making and building, exploring materials such as metal, stained glass, and handcrafted objects. Drawing naturally became a tool to translate ideas into form, laying the foundations of his artistic language.
After several years of studies combining fine arts, graphic design, and applied arts, he chose to fully commit to hands-on artistic practice rather than digital creation. Since 2012, he has devoted himself entirely to painting and sculpture, and has worked professionally as an independent artist since 2015.
His work is predominantly abstract and driven by gesture, material, and color. He primarily uses acrylic paint, appreciating its versatility and its ability to shift from smooth surfaces to thick, textured layers with a sculptural quality. In parallel, his sculptural work focuses on wood and metal, exploring the contrast between organic forms and industrial structures.
Jonathan Pradillon’s creative process is intuitive and open-ended. Rather than starting with a fixed outcome, he allows each piece to evolve through interaction with the material and the acceptance of unpredictability. Color plays a central role in his work, often inspired by natural phenomena such as iridescence, light reflections, and chromatic harmonies.
His approach is primarily emotional rather than conceptual. He aims to create works that invite immediate sensory engagement, leaving space for personal interpretation. Free from attachment to any specific artistic movement, his practice continues to evolve through experimentation, with ongoing series and larger-scale projects currently in development.
