Biography
I am an architect and artist based in Istanbul. My practice moves between drawing, watercolor, ink, and oil painting, focusing on quiet architectural and landscape spaces shaped by everyday life.
Rather than approaching places as subjects to be documented, I work with atmosphere. Interiors, streets, houses, and landscapes appear through restraint, repetition, and stillness — spaces where human presence is sensed even when no figure is visible. Light, proportion, surface, and material resistance play a central role, allowing simplicity to carry emotional weight.
Coming from an architectural background, I use drawing as a way of understanding space. Line is not decorative, but structural; composition is reduced, and gestures are controlled. Across different series, material choices — paper, surface texture, absorption, resistance — actively shape the image, becoming part of the work rather than a neutral support.
My process begins with observation: walking, sketching, and noticing ordinary rhythms of the city and landscape. These fragments later return to the studio, where they are reworked through memory rather than direct reference. Some works emerge as carefully constructed series, while others remain intentionally open, functioning as companions to thinking and process.
I began working professionally as an artist in San Jose, California in 2016. Since then, my work has been exhibited and collected internationally. All works offered here are original, one-of-a-kind pieces, created as part of ongoing series that explore architecture, landscape, and the quiet presence of lived space.
