Giusy Lauriola

Giusy Lauriola is a contemporary artist based in Rome. Her work explores the threshold between reality and imagination, creating layered, semi-abstract compositions through the use of resin, acrylic, and enamel.

Light, color, and transparency play a central role, turning her surfaces into meditative spaces that evoke silence, memory, and emotion.

Themes of femininity, human connection, and nature run throughout her visual language. Resin, her signature material, is more than a medium-it's a luminous, tactile presence that enhances the sensory and sculptural quality of her works.

Lauriola's expressive approach balances structure and spontaneity, blending controlled gesture with instinctive impulse. Over time, she has moved from digital and photo-based media back to painting, developing a distinct aesthetic rooted in poetic sensitivity and material experimentation.

Awards and Recognition

Finalist of the Singulart International Women’s Day 2025 Award. In 2021, she received the Arbiter Fata Verde Award during the SyArt Sorrento International Festival. In 2022, one of her works was chosen for the cover of Arbiter magazine. She received Honorable Mentions from the Circle Foundation for the Arts in both 2020 and 2022, and was a finalist in prestigious competitions such as the Lupa Award (2020) and the Celeste Prize (2007). In 2015, she won the competition held by the Pier Maria Rossi Museum. Her works are held in prominent collections, including the Copelouzos Family Art Museum in Athens, the SanPaolo Invest Art Collection in Rome, the Antonio Sapone Municipal Gallery in Gaeta, the Monumental Complex of Santo Spirito in Sassia, and two art hotels in Rome: The First Roma Arte and Abitart. Between 2021 and 2024, she participated in several major contemporary art fairs, including Arte in Nuvola in Rome, and fairs in Genoa, Padua, and Parma. In 2020, she was included in the De Agostini Atlas of Contemporary Art, one of the most comprehensive reviews of Italian artists since 1950. Her career has had an international reach: she was guest of honor at the International Photo Festival in Łódź (Poland) in 2006 and held solo exhibitions at prestigious venues including the Italian Cultural Institute in Damascus (2010), the Italian Cultural Institute in Tokyo (2024, for International Holocaust Remembrance Day), the MACRO Museum of Contemporary Art, and Palazzo Merulana in Rome.
