About Giusy Lauriola

Biography

I paint to explore the space where inner life meets the outer world — that delicate, suspended threshold where emotion becomes image and light becomes meaning. My work moves between abstraction and figuration, transforming memory, fragility and human connection into luminous atmospheres.

Through layered combinations of acrylic, enamel, and resin, I create surfaces where gestures, transparencies and reflections become part of the narrative. Resin, in particular, acts as a silent partner: it captures light, deepens colour and holds the most subtle vibrations of the painting process.

The feminine universe, human relationships, and the emotional landscape of nature are recurring presences in my work. They appear not as literal subjects, but as inner geographies — intimate, fluid, quietly powerful. Each piece seeks to capture a moment of balance, a feeling suspended between appearance and disappearance.

In recent years, my research expanded into luminous sculptures, where light becomes a living material and extends the dialogue between matter, space, and perception.

For me, painting is a conversation: between what is seen and what is felt, between memory and transformation, between the visible world and the invisible one within us.
