Following an artist residency programme in Fayoum Egypt, my photography was on show at the Soma Gallery in Cairo.
Biography
Photography sparked my artistic voyage, a pause from working with children that led me on a global exploration. My camera became my companion, and each photograph became a moment of stillness and liberation. These captures weren't just about visual aesthetics; they became a way for me to abstract the world around me, imbuing each frame with my personal connection to the places I encountered.
My photography portfolio encompasses a blend of styles, with my Fine Art photographs standing out as a particularly whimsical collection. Embracing the role of an artist, I delve into the realm of alternate realities through my lens, using light, colours, and tones to evoke a nostalgic and romanticised essence of each scene. Drawing inspiration from my passion for cinema, I try to craft images that bend the boundaries of reality, transporting viewers to a different time and place. With an ambition to engage my audience deeply, I hope my photographs weaves tales that linger and unfurl within the realms of their own imaginations.
Beyond the lens of my camera, I draw inspiration from my creative beginnings as a Graphic Designer and merge my skills as a self-taught photographer and painter to create a collection which explores the evolution of my creative expression. I take sections of my photographs, which are then combined with layers of ink and paint, and transformed into digital compositions - merging tactile and digital realism, and creating a fusion of creativity.
I believe that true art is ultimately born from vulnerability and instinct, whether that’s when I choose to release the shutter on my camera, or the act of mark making with my paint brush or pastel. I aspire to forge a connection between my experiences and the art I create. Through my art, I invite the viewer to glimpse the magic that I find in the world—a magic that I believe is accessible to all who pause to perceive it.
