Artworks by Evelina Klanikova

My paintings are driven by a fascination with movement — how it creates rhythm, patterns and energy within a still image. This idea connects my three main series: Flight, inspired by birds and the patterns of their movement; Organic Chemistry, where abstract formations grow and interact; and Racing Standstill, which explores the visual chaos, light and energy of city life.

My process usually begins with photography and sketches. I use photographs for realistic details, but I always leave space for imagination and unexpected changes while painting. I work mainly with oil paint, building images slowly through multiple layers, thin glazes, expressive brushstrokes, repeated marks, blending and spontaneous gestures.

I want my paintings to unfold gradually — inviting the viewer to discover details, feel movement, and watch something familiar shift toward abstraction. Vivid colour is an important part of this, bringing energy, atmosphere and a sense of joy to the work.
