The dragon arum (Calla palustris), also called swamp calla, snake root, snake herb, swamp snake root or pig's ear, is the only plant species of the genus Calla and the subfamily Calloideae within the family Araceae.
The calla flower is viewed from above, you can see how it unfolds in a spiral like a snail shell. A leaf is still faintly visible on the left. The black background contrasts very strongly with the light colors and lets them shine intensely. Reference photo Giuseppe Guadagno.
