Westminster Abbey is a large, mainly Gothic abbey church in the City of London, England, just to the west of the Palace of Westminster. It is one of the UKs most notable religious buildings and the traditional place of coronation and a burial site for British monarchs. Since the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066, all coronations of English and British monarchs have occurred in Westminster Abbey. Sixteen royal weddings have occurred at the Abbey since 1100.
This drawing depicts the stunning west front featuring the great West Door with ten modern martyrs above. The drawing has been rendered with black technical pen to capture the finest details and has been beautifully finished with an opulent gold leaf background.
This painting forms part of a wider collection of works exploring modern society's relationship with religion.
