Vineyards, Bassano (2013) Original Watercolour by Morag Paul

Bassano is located near Fabriano in Italy – a town which has long been associated with the manufacture of fine watercolour paper. The first time I participated in the international watercolour festival in Fabriano, I stayed in “agriturismo” accommodation in Bassano and this was the view from the end of the driveway. It was April but already very warm and yet the vines were still bare and there was snow on the distant hills. This inspired me to walk up to the end of the driveway with my painting equipment and set up my easel to paint this scene on site.
Since then, I have been back to Fabriano almost every year and this painting is one of my “Beautiful Italy” collection. I am looking forward to going there again this year in late summer and staying once again with our fantastic hosts at "La Casa di Campagna" in Bassano.
