Painting in contemporary figurative style representing the imaginary portrait of the Italian poet Folgóre da San Gimignano, pseudonym of Jacopo di Michele (San Gimignano, 1270 - 1332). He was a representative of comic-realistic poetry, a poetic movement born in Tuscany in the middle of the thirteenth century, which was opposed to the dominant Italian lyric poetry of that time, for the low style and secular and worldly themes.
