Drawing on hammered cardboard inspired by the ochre colors that turn toward night, the keeper of the last gleams of the moon and white roses, to whose profound meanings the work is dedicated. White roses are the flowers of the moon, a symbol of innocence, virtue, unity, new life, purity, majesty, and one story has it that these white flowers were born from Eve's tears as she was leaving the earthly Paradise. Long ago, in parts of Europe, girls threw rose petals in the moonlight on the eve of St. John's Day, and if they recited a particular incantation at the stroke of midnight, they would see the man they were to marry. Dante considered the rose to symbolize the transition or passage necessary to achieve final perfection: in The Divine Comedy, one reaches paradise through The Mystic Rose.
