Artwork description:

A row of women in different shades of pastel coloured swimming caps prepare for a bracing morning plunge. It is a moment of stillness and shared reflection. Puffy clouds like smoke signals approach from the horizon.

There are 14 colour layers in this print, each printed separately by hand. Each layer is drawn or painted onto film and then photographically transferred onto a screen, a nylon mesh stretched on a frame. it then acts as a stencil, allowing ink to pass through some areas of the screen, and blocking it in others.

Materials used:

285gsm print paper, screenprint ink.
