The Arnoldpunky Marriage

A contemporary and surreal reinterpretation of Jan van Eyck’s iconic Arnolfini Portrait, transformed through a steampunk and anti-realist vision. In this theatrical interior scene, ritual, machinery and human emotion merge into an enigmatic symbolic encounter.

The work pays homage to the composition and psychological tension of the original masterpiece while reimagining its universe through mechanical elements, masks, fragmented identities and dreamlike symbolism. The male figure appears as a hybrid between human and machine, while the female character evokes both elegance and emotional mystery through expressive color and gesture. A strange golden creature silently witnesses the union, reinforcing the allegorical atmosphere of the scene.

Painted in oil on canvas with visible brushwork and textured surfaces, the artwork combines expressive figuration, surrealism and steampunk aesthetics.
