I painted Sunshine on the Way from that feeling of watching a cloudy sky slowly begin to open. I wanted to capture the moment when the light hasn’t quite arrived yet, but you can already feel that it is coming.
I wasn’t trying to record a particular place, but rather the feeling of standing somewhere open and quiet, looking towards brighter light.
For me, the painting carries a simple thought: even when the sky feels heavy, sunshine can still be on the way.
