I wanted to capture the feeling of sunlight falling across her face — the warmth, intimacy and fleeting beauty of the moment. The strong light on her forehead and cheek creates a gentle glow, while the deeper red and violet shadows add mystery and emotional depth.

Paint has been built up in expressive layers, with visible brushwork and textured areas adding energy to the surrounding space. The loose, colourful marks around the figure allow the portrait to feel both contemporary and dreamlike.
