This painting immediately captivated me when I first saw it a couple years ago, but I waited until such a time as I could afford to purchase it. I am so glad I finally took the plunge! Normally, I am not a great fan of abstraction, but in this painting , I can really see the inspiration and thought behind the “Oasis”. I appreciate the bold use of the contrasting teal and orange, and their placement in the photo almost looks like a negative of a photo, as, in real life, water would be blue, and sand would be orange, which creates visual interest. The brush strokes are intentional and mimic the flow of water and sand, with upward lines perhaps denoting vegetation and the scattering of light. This work has already garnered many compliments, and I will cherish it forever.
