Summer dusk (2026) Original Watercolour by Samantha Adams
17.5 x 16.2 x 1cm (unframed)
£300
Original artwork description
Summer dusk
Apricot light,
Bronze coloured clouds,
Silhouette of Wincombe woods,
Muted and earthy,
Walking the organic fields with a cool breeze.
Words and thoughts of where I live on the outskirts of Shaftesbury.
Original expressive watercolour on cold pressed Fabriano 300gsm 140lb.
Signed on the front and back of painting.
Certificate of authenticity.
This organic ancient landscape is what I have observed for over 40 years. I never take it for granted and it’s always changing. The woodland trees are so old and lots of oak, beech, ash and sycamore grow here.
This was an art demonstration piece for a new student and recently created. After the heatwave in late May.
I used a three colour technique and left areas of white using a sporadic wet on wet technique all over. Then a baseline for woods, scrubbing the trees on with a bushy hogs hair brush. Same brush I used for the clouds. I wanted to leave some light in the field and dragged the paint for the grasses. Reflecting the tonal balance of the colours all the way through the painting.
Materials used:
Cold pressed watercolour paper Fabriano 300gsm 140lb, bushy hogs hair brush, filbert brush, Japanese watercolours,
Details:
- Watercolour on Paper
- One of a kind artwork
- Size: 17.5 x 16.2 x 1cm (unframed)
- Signed on the front
- Style: Expressive and gestural
- Subject: Landscapes, sea and sky
