"Still life with apple" is my contemporary, dynamic reimagining of the classic still life genre. Created entirely with Japanese ink on paper, this piece reflects my exploration of balance-capturing the structure of solid forms while embracing the raw, unpredictable energy of abstract expressionism.
At the heart of the composition sits a single apple, surrounded by everyday objects that I allowed to dissolve and reform through bold brushstrokes, delicate washes, spontaneous splatters, and controlled drips. For me, the striking contrast between the deep, rich blacks of the ink and the crisp white of the paper is a way to create a powerful sense of drama, volume, and light.
I created this monochrome artwork for those who appreciate contemporary, high-impact pieces that bridge the gap between traditional Eastern ink techniques and modern, expressive aesthetics.
