Original artwork description:

Spellbound Tigress is a 36x36 inches oil painting of a semi abstract tiger hiding in a forest. The tiger looks over her shoulder at us looking deceptively friendly. Most of her body is in shadow and the view through the trees behind her leads you past her and into the distance. The background and the tiger are merging as if she is flickering in and out of existence like the Cheshire Cat of Alice in Wonderland fame. I had this appearing and merging idea in mind due to the precarious position tigers are in as regards their future survival. The style of the painting is contemporary art nouveau and the painting itself definitely has a presence. This tiger’s eyes will follow you around the room. The inspiration was simply that every artist loves to paint a tiger – who doesn’t? But I tried here to do it in a different, not wildlife art, way. Painted on deep edge canvas, white edges, ready to hang, not frame necessary.

Materials used:

oil on canvas
