Original artwork description
This one started without a subject. I was playing with materials, gesso and acrylic house paint applied with a rough brush, more interested in what the surface would do than in painting anything in particular. At some point it became a shoreline, or at least that's what it decided to be. The horizontal quality of the composition probably nudged it in that direction. The thing that surprised me most was an illusion of reflected light off water that appeared without any deliberate effort on my part. I didn't put it there, but I decided to keep it. That kind of accident is usually worth keeping.
