Scotland Copse (2025) Original Mixed-media Painting by Steve Potts
16.3 x 18.2cm (unframed) / 14.3 x 16cm (actual image size)
£200
Original artwork description
Watercolour and pencil drawing from a view near Dumfries, Scotland.
A small stand of trees in a Scottish field was the starting point here. What interested me was the density of the copse at the brow of the hill against the openness of the surrounding farmland, and the way trees in that situation become a major feature of the land. The mixed-media approach using watercolour applies with brushes, reeds, and hollow grass, allowed for a surface that builds up over time, and some of the effect here came as a genuine surprise.
Materials used:
watercolour and pencil
Details:
- Mixed-media painting on Paper
- One of a kind artwork
- Size: 16.3 x 18.2cm (unframed) / 14.3 x 16cm (actual image size)
- Signed on the front
- Style: Expressive and gestural
- Subject: Landscapes, sea and sky
