Original artwork description

A painting that doles out a healthy serving of boiled oats, peppered with an existential crisis.
‘Porridge and salt’ recreates an uneventful scene where triviality is a staple diet.
A man sits in muted anticipation of his bowl of morning porridge. Now an older man, his vigour for protest and rebellion has evaporated; he is caught in the wheels of time, revolving, visiting the near same scene every day.
The spoon in the foreground is of a playful significance. In its reflection can be seen another face. This not only signifies the presence of another character at the table, but can also be used as a tool to invite the viewer further into the narrative: if they wish, the viewer themselves can play the role of the second person.
