Pink and Blue Landscape (2022) Original Oil Painting by Natalia Matveeva

80 x 80 x 1.7cm (unframed) / 80 x 80cm (actual image size)

£1,478.86

This landscape was painted over a blue imprimatura, which gives the colors a special vibrancy. The work was created from direct observation, but I allowed myself to go beyond reality by adding an imagined element in the distance — an old pink castle.

The road curves and seems to lead towards this castle, inviting the viewer into a space that exists somewhere between reality and imagination. It appears almost real, yet remains slightly out of reach.

The painting is created with loose, expressive brushstrokes. It is filled with light, vivid colors, and a joyful atmosphere, while preserving a subtle sense of mystery.

This work is a celebration of color. Reality intertwines with imagination.

The edges of the canvas are painted in the same blue color as the imprimatura, creating a harmonious continuation of the painting.

This artwork is designed as a companion piece to my other painting, “Flower Kiosk Near the Metro”, and they work beautifully together as a pair.

Oil on canvas. The canvas is stretched on a sturdy wooden frame with cross braces.
