Penumbra (2025) Original Acrylic Painting by Clint Dean

Penumbra explores the space between darkness and light, where forms emerge, dissolve, and remain open to interpretation.

Deep layers of blue-black, emerald, and muted teal surround passages of luminous turquoise and aqua. Broad gestures, fragmented marks, and partially obscured structures create an atmosphere of movement and uncertainty, suggesting an environment that is simultaneously concealed and revealed.

Developed through an intuitive process of layering, painting over, and rebuilding, the composition reflects my fascination with decay, transformation, and the unexpected discoveries that emerge through painting.

Rather than depicting a specific place, Penumbra invites the viewer to explore an ambiguous space where light, structure, and atmosphere continually shift.
