Painted from Eugène Delacroix's painting "Orphan Girl at the Cemetery". I have always admired this painting and especially the face of this young woman subjugating and modern in these traits at the same time. I like to interpret paintings by old masters and after "The Girl with the Pearl" of Vermeer (acquired by the Vermeer Museum in Delft), this young orphan girl was very suitable for my desire to make human portraits.
