Original artwork description:

This small 8 x 10" oil painting is of a public footpath that curves round the edge of fields near my home village. I think the path was much wider originally but nature has crept in at the sides. The path eventually peters out altogether as it becomes less used.
Christopher Witchall's landscape painting captures the light and atmosphere of the Cambridgeshire fens where he has lived, explored, painted and photographed for 30 years. His unsentimental approach to his subjects combine traditional painting techniques with the realism and cool detachment of photography.
