This painting is part of an ongoing series capturing vintage mugshots. The reference photos that I am using are fascinating because they depict a snapshot in time of someone at a very discouraging point in their lives. I don't know the outcome of these people's lives nor would I share it if I did. I believe the mystery is what intrigues me.

I created this painting using a variety of materials, including acrylic, charcoal, spray paint and oil pastel. The painting is textured with layers of paint and is finished with a gloss varnish to reveal the richness of the colors as well as to help protect it from sunlight and moisture.
