This is an original artwork unique to me, painted on very dark brown leather and box-framed. One of my art-on-leather range of paintings that feature on Artfinder.
It was first exhibited at the Shelsley Walsh Classic Nostalgia event in 2017.
The painting was adapted from a photograph I took of the original car that I saw in a public car park in 2017. The car is very rare, probably a 1920's or early 1930's fitted with a V-twin engine from a Brough motorcycle (the brand that the 'Lawrence of Arabia' had his fatal crash riding). The car has 4 wheels - probably rarer still as most Morgans were 3-wheelers around that time.
I am available for commissions so if you have a vehicle you would like painting in a similar style, contact me via Artfinder.
The reason for using leather as a medium to paint on is often asked. In this case as with all of my leather art, the leather hide chose is not by accident. The texture and colour must add to the composition, in this case the size of texture perfectly added to the semi-3D effect. Some artists prepare the ground to give texture. I use the natural and random texture of leather in the same way.
The painting process I have developed over the past 10+ years has enabled me to exploit a feature that many mediums avoid. My leather art is not behind glass. The process and materials I use means that the leather art is waterproof and should be seen and appreciated - including touching as you can sculpture. I paint art on leather jackets as well so the process is well proven.
So if you are looking for art that is innovative this could be what you are looking for..
