Thanks for taking the time to read my Profile and hope you like my art.

Update April 2022: *due to exhibition and other commitments my shop here will be put on hold for purchase between 12-25 April as much of my artwork will be away from my studio*.

If you are thinking of purchasing any piece please do so before then otherwise there is a good chance the one you are after may get snapped up by someone else.

Overseas orders: please note that due to a wide variety of shipping rates and duty costs I cannot include all eventualities on each listing.  Purchases of my original artwork sent to the USA are not subject duty (Jan 2022) but shipping costs vary almost by each ZIP Code - Please contact me and I will provide a shipping quote to your location.  For shipping to the EU, please contact me as rates vary and duty rates differ by each Nation State (from 5-20%). For other locations, please message me through the Artfinder system so I can provide a custom quote to meet your needs.  I want to ensure buyers have full visibility of costs and I want to provide a safe, fast and reliable service.

    About me

I am a portraiture artist specialising in painting on leather although I can and do occasionally use traditional media.  My subjects do vary - it keeps me on my toes and new challenges are a good thing.

Due to exhibitions and shows being cancelled in 2020 and 2021 I have decided to upload many more pieces to Artfinder than I would normally. As a self-employed Artist life must go on. Please be aware that some of my listings here may be taken offline at short notice due to them being away from my studio at exhibition, in a local gallery or purchased via my website.

The medium of leather in art is challenging to work with but the properties of each hide gives an aesthetic that will never, in my experience, be matched by paper or canvas.  I have developed a technique that starts with digital technology in the preparation of each composition to the technical aspect of selecting, treating and preparing the stock upholstery-quality hides I use and then final presentation and framing.

As a part-time sculptor I appreciate how tactile art has a role in engaging its appreciation.  My leather art can be touched, caressed and even worn as art clothing.

I am a professional Engineer and have developed a style and technique that ensures my leather art is robust and is resistant to agents such as petrol, oil and strong detergents.

My work has a realistic style and usually adapted from one or a series of photograph references. See my website for art not yet here on Artfinder and details of the custom leather jacket painting I do.

I do art commissions and exhibit often, see my website and follow my social media profiles for details and more regular updates including details of exhibitions and galleries that stock some of my work.

I do ship to most countries, given the current complexities over some major carriers limiting destinations, differing import tax rates let alone COVID & Brexit etc I have removed the international shipping rates of my listings.  If you are seriously interested in a piece and you are outside the UK please message me here through Artfinder and I can work out a bespoke shipping quote for you. I will endeavour to find out and include import duty as well so you will have full visibility of costs with the added benefit of art not being subject to a 'customs delay'.

Stay safe and call back again soon :-).

    Regards

    Karl
