Original artwork description:

A portrait of Marilyn Monroe painted on pink leather and box framed ready to wall hang.

The reason for using leather as a medium to paint on is often asked. In this case as with all of my leather art, the leather hide chose is not by accident. The texture and colour must add to the composition, in this case the size of texture perfectly added to the semi-3D effect. Some artists prepare the ground to give texture. I use the natural and random texture of leather in the same way.

The painting process I have developed over the past 10+ years has enabled me to exploit a feature that many mediums avoid. My leather art is not behind glass. The process and materials I use means that the leather art is waterproof and should be seen and appreciated - including touching as you can sculpture. I paint art on leather jackets as well so the process is well proven.

So if you are looking for art that is innovative this could be what you are looking for..

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I do ship to most countries, given the current complexities over some major carriers limiting destinations, differing import tax rates let alone COVID & Brexit etc I have removed the international shipping rates of my listings. If you are seriously interested in a piece and you are outside the UK please message me here through Artfinder and I can work out a bespoke shipping quote for you. I will endeavour to find out and include import duty as well so you will have full visibility of costs with the added benefit of art not being subject to a 'customs delay'.
