Original artwork description
At every exhibition where this work was displayed, I received so many moving reactions. The work evokes a lot of emotion.
Searching with my brush for the shape and structure of water, my work automatically became a whirlpool of desperation, an attempt to hold on to something, to save from ruin.
It was the end of 2016: In the news we saw refugees drowning, the war was rampant and the terrorists sow hatred. The world held its breath, dictators and idiots came in power, the ice cap still melted, the oceans stifle in plastic, everything around us seemed to suffer and disappear.
This painting is a very personal work. It originated at the same time my father died. He disappeared before my eyes. His intelligence - his identity - swallowed by dementia.
To protect my paintings from UV-light and dust I varnish my paintings with at least 2 coats of matt varnish. Signature and date is (also) on the back. The sides are painted and I will put a wire on the back so it will be ready to hang.

oilpaint on canvas

- Oil painting on Canvas
