London Deconstructed (2026) Linocut by Alison Headley
52 x 39 x 0.01cm (unframed) / 41 x 31cm (actual image size)
£190
Artwork description
Here I’ve stripped back a view of London to its simplified elements, and turned it into a naive, semi-abstract cityscape.
To simplify forms by scrapping the understood norms of perspective or realism is very freeing, and at times it feels like a palette cleanse where I can leave behind details and specifics and just revel in recreating a uncomplicated world, or city, as is in this case.
This jumble of recognised forms have been cut into separate blocks allowing me to build bit by bit a London of my own.
This is my second print of London, which has been inspired by the section where St Paul’s cathedral can be seen from the south side of the Thames, and with the square mile as the backdrop, a view that always takes my breath away.
Please be aware that I print by hand so there will be slight textural anomalies and smudges within the print, but these marks are proof that what you’ll be receiving is a handmade printed piece and not a digitally enhanced or AI manufactured print.

Somerset satin 250gsm and oil based ink
